Not named on the listing · Coptic Cairo, Citadel, Khan el-Khalili
A car and driver collect you in downtown Cairo or Giza and run you between the Coptic churches, the Muhammad Ali Mosque on the Citadel and Khan el-Khalili, with a guide if you add one. Pick it when you have half a day and want all three faces of Old Cairo without arranging a single transfer.

This is the Old Cairo tour with the most reviews on Viator: 1,011 at 4.8, of which 831 come from Tripadvisor. The plan is simple. About an hour in Coptic Cairo, the churches and synagogue inside the old Roman fortress of Babylon. About an hour at the Muhammad Ali Mosque on the Citadel. About an hour in Khan el-Khalili. A private car does the driving in between, which in Cairo traffic is most of the battle.
The price is where you need to read closely. The listing has four booking options. "Car + driver only" is the one behind the $14 headline: no guide, no tickets, and the driver waits outside while you walk the sites alone. "Car + driver + guide" adds an Egyptologist. "Car + driver + guide + ticket" adds the entry fees. The fourth, "best seller all include", is the top tier; the listing doesn't spell out what it adds, and lunch appears in the inclusions only "based on the tour options you've booked", so read the option text in the booking widget before you pay. On top of that, the price per person is tiered by group size, and $14 is the rate for the biggest group.
Our honest take: in four hours the only paid stop is the Citadel, EGP 550 for a foreign adult, card only, with the mosque included. The Hanging Church, Abu Serga, Ben Ezra and the bazaar cost nothing. One guest who paid for the ticket option wrote that they ended up using about a third of what they paid for. The guide option plus your own Citadel ticket is the better buy. And if you only care about the churches, Metro Line 1 to Mar Girgis costs EGP 10; the car earns its money on the Citadel and Khan legs.
The driver collects you from your hotel in downtown Cairo or Giza. Guests report a WhatsApp message beforehand to confirm the exact pickup point.
The Hanging Church above the gate of Roman Babylon, Abu Serga with its Holy Family crypt and Ben Ezra Synagogue, where the Cairo Geniza was found. All free. No photos inside Ben Ezra.
The alabaster mosque finished in 1848, with 84-metre minarets and the clock tower Louis-Philippe sent in return for the Luxor obelisk. The one paid stop: EGP 550 unless your option includes tickets.
The bazaar founded in 1382, free to wander. Brass lanterns, spices, a mint tea if your guide has time. The order of the three stops varies with traffic.
Plan on four hours plus traffic. Guests report tours running long, sometimes because the guide was generous with time, sometimes because of shop stops.
★★★★★As a solo female traveller this was an easy way to get a good introduction to Cairo. The driver, Mahmoud was excellent and very kind. The guide, Ehab was extremely knowledgeable and explained everything in detail.
★★★★★Our driver Ahmed Farouk was great, getting us quickly to all locations where we spent as long as we wanted. He was very knowledgeable and gave us details of the sites we visited, buildings we drove passed and Cairo in general.
★★★★★Only had a short time to see old Cairo and this half day tour ticked all the boxes for us . The guide Sandy was very knowledgeable and enthusiastic [...] She let us dictate the pace of the trip and gave us choices of what we wanted to see .
★★★★★This was a brief, but jam-packed tour. Ehab, my guide, was upbeat and informative and also helpful with photos. Shady, the driver, was assertive and confident in the Cairene traffic.

Viator doesn't publish its group tiers, so we won't guess a figure. The $14 from-price is the per-person rate for the largest group on the car-and-driver-only option. Two people pay more per head, and the guide or ticket options add to it. Enter 2 travellers and your option on Viator and the real total shows before you pay. Without the ticket option, budget EGP 550 (about $11) each for the Citadel.
Only on the three guide options. On the cheapest one you get a car and driver, who drops you at each site and waits. Guests on that option report drivers pointing out buildings on the way, but they don't come inside to explain the churches or the mosque.
Yes, easily. Metro Line 1 to Mar Girgis costs EGP 10 and the station sits outside the Coptic compound; the churches and Ben Ezra are free. A tour makes more sense for the Citadel and Khan el-Khalili, which are far apart in heavy traffic. Our guide-or-DIY breakdown runs the numbers.
A little. The Citadel ticket office takes cards only. Small notes in Egyptian pounds cover shoe-keepers, toilets and tips, and you'll want cash for bargaining in the bazaar.
